The Creative Writers’ Club (CWC), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU), recently honoured one of its staunch supporters, Baba Muhammad Dzukogi, with the prestigious title of Grand Patron during the club’s annual Book and Arts Festival.
The event was filled with creativity, literature, and camaraderie. The honouree expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, describing it as both a personal and family milestone.

He revealed that the connection to the university runs deep.

“Being bestowed with the Grand Patronship is a great honour to me. We love ABU, Zaria, unlimitedly. It is also an honour to my family. Saddiq M. Dzukogi made history by becoming CWC chairman three consecutive times. Zainab Dzukogi also graduated from ABU in 2017. So, we are generally ABU in my house,” he said.
He also thanked the current chairman, the club’s advisor and referred to other members who graced the occasion.
”I am grateful to Amuda Abbas Oluwadamilola, the current chairman, and the club’s adviser, Dr. Isah Rabiu, for finding me worthy of this honour.”
“I wish to acknowledge the great company of Dr. Abdullah Ismaila Ahmed, Dr. Ola Ifatimehin, Mr. Nathaniel Bivan, Dr. Lukman Kankia, Mujahid Ameen Lilo, Mahmud Dzukogi, and others,” he concluded.
The Creative Writers’ Club was created by the late Abubakar Gimba OFR, late Prof David Ker, late Prof Aderemi Bamikunle, and others in 1974. It is a forum that engages in intellectual discourses, presentation of literary works (prose, drama and poetry) and also engages in critical sessions.
