The Coronation

The Bureau of Chieftaincy and Local Government Affairs, in collaboration with the Idoma Area Traditional Council of Chiefs, has officially crowned Chief Stephen Odeh Adakwu as the Oji Agor of Ifu-Ogbe Clan in Akweya land. The coronation ceremony took place on September 22, 2025, at the Otukpo Local Government Secretariat.

The ceremony was conducted strictly under traditional and state-recognised protocols, with the Ifu-Ogbe Clan being the only group crowned on that day.

Profile of the New Chief

Chief Odeh Adakwu, popularly known as “IBB,” hails from the Odeh family of Ifu-Ogbe clan, Ejor Akpa District, Akweya land. At 41 years old, he is regarded as one of the young and vibrant traditional leaders in the region.

A businessman and politician, Adakwu holds an NCE in Economics/Mathematics from the College of Education, Oju, as well as a B.Sc. (Hons) in Economics from Benue State University, Makurdi. He is married and blessed with three children.

Succession

He succeeds the late Chief Onah Ideh Ipor, the first to hold the Oji Agor/Agor Oche title, who joined the ancestors six years ago.

Speaking to AkweyaTV, Chief Adakwu expressed gratitude to God, his people, and the authorities for bestowing the honour upon him. He promised to uphold the values of the Ifu-Ogbe clan and contribute to the peace, unity, and development of Akweya land.
