The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has received vandalised electricity cables recovered by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command.
AEDC’s Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Adefisayo Akinsanya, revealed that the formal handover was conducted by FCT Commissioner of Police Tunji Disu’s representative, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ishaku Sharu.
The recovery follows a coordinated security operation targeting vandalism and illegal activities threatening electricity distribution in the FCT and surrounding areas.

AEDC Managing Director Chijioke Okwuokenye praised the security agencies, stating the company’s zero-tolerance approach to vandalism. “Vandalism is not just a crime against AEDC; it is an attack on our communities,” Okwuokenye stated, highlighting the broader impact of such criminal activities on homes, businesses, and critical services.
The company is committed to pursuing legal measures against perpetrators and has established multiple whistleblowing channels to encourage public participation in combating infrastructure sabotage.
Okwuokenye called on community leaders, residents, and stakeholders to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities. He pledged continued investment in infrastructure, enhanced security measures, and stakeholder collaboration to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply.
“By working together, we can create a more resilient and sustainable power system that drives economic growth and national development,” the AEDC Managing Director said.
