The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has issued a warning to several key government institutions, including the Defence Headquarters, the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Power House, the Police Headquarters, and other customers, on imminent disconnection due to non-payment of electricity bills.
This was disclosed in a notice titled “Notice for Power Disconnection for Customers with Outstanding Bills” on the company’s official X handle.
“This is to inform the general public that AEDC will disconnect all customers with outstanding electricity bills on June 3, 2024.
“Timely payment of electricity bills is crucial for the continued operation and enhancement of AEDC infrastructure, ensuring we can deliver efficient and reliable service to our community.
“We therefore urge all customers with debts to pay all outstanding bills before the deadline to avoid service interruption,” it read.
In a memo signed by the management of the company, the company listed customers with outstanding bills including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, Defence Headquarters, FCDA, Kogi State Government, Niger State Government, Nigerian Police Force Headquarters, Nigeria Army barracks, Power House, SGF House I, Head of Service, Federal Ministry of Education.
Other affected customers are the Federal Ministry of Women’s Affairs, the Federal Ministry of Industry, the Federal Ministry of Trade, the Federal Ministry of Interior, the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, the National Stadium, Goodluck Jonathan Athletics Hall, the Federal Ministry of Finance, the Federal Ministry of Education, the National Planning Commission (Budget), the Federal Ministry of Works, the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Abuja, among others.
