Residents of the Akweya communities have mobilised in a coordinated effort to combat kidnapping activities in their area, local sources reported today.

Community members conducted an extensive search operation through dense forest areas where kidnappers are believed to be operating, though no arrests were made during the initial sweep. This is the second time a search like this has been conducted this year.
Unconfirmed reports have emerged suggesting possible connections between the kidnappers and Fulani herders allegedly stationed at a farm owned by former Senate President David Mark, according to community sources who requested anonymity.
“The community has decided we must remove these criminals from our land,” said a participant in the search operation. “We cannot continue living in fear.”
The community-led initiative comes amid growing concerns about security challenges in the region, with residents expressing frustration over what they describe as inadequate response from security agencies.
Security experts note that while demonstrating local resolve, community vigilante efforts raise questions about coordination with official law enforcement and the potential for escalation of intercommunal tensions.
