AkweyaTV will serve as the central broadcast hub for the 2024 Cross Country Poetry Celebration (CCPC), a nationwide literary event scheduled for tomorrow, October 26.
Founder of Poets in Nigeria, Mr Eriata Orhibabor, and the CEO of AkweyaTV, Mr Odoh Diego Okenyodo, announced Wednesday that the television station will coordinate simultaneous broadcasts from multiple locations across Nigeria, connecting poets and literary enthusiasts in a nationwide celebration of verse.
“PIN has consistently enriched Nigeria’s literary landscape,” said Okenyodo, himself a published poet and country lead of the Splendors of Dawn Poetry Foundation. “Their mission aligns with our belief that societies thrive when they build systems reflecting their cultural heritage.”
The event will feature keynote speaker Professor Niyi Osundare, an internationally acclaimed poet, addressing this year’s theme, “The Power and Pleasure of Poetry.” Notable spoken word artist Dike Chukwumerije will appear as a special guest.
AkweyaTV‘s involvement represents a major boost for the annual celebration, organised by the Poets in Nigeria (PIN) Initiative. The Somolu Newspaper and Ojemba Magazine have also committed to covering the event.
The celebration aims to connect poetry enthusiasts across Nigeria through synchronised events and discussions, broadcast live from multiple locations nationwide.
