An Anambra State High Court has postponed the trial of three native doctors accused of various criminal activities until April 11, 2025. The suspects face charges related to the possession of “Oke-ite” charms and other alleged supernatural practices.
Justice Jude Obiorah granted the adjournment to ensure proper service and arraignment of the accused persons: Onyebuchi Okocha (also known as Onyeze Jesus), Chidozie Nwangwu (Akwa Okuko), and Ekene Igboekweze (Eke Hit).
The defendants face multiple serious charges, including possession of “supernatural powers” allegedly used to make money and “stagnate destiny,” as well as conspiracy to commit felony, kidnapping, and obtaining money by fraudulent means. The cases are being heard under Suit Numbers A/41C2025, A/40C2025, and A/42C2025.
All three suspects were arrested in February by Agunechemba, the Anambra State security outfit, and have reportedly been held in detention without trial for over 60 days. Their arraignment comes following public criticism over their prolonged detention without access to family members.

Defence counsel Remigus Okoli claimed that “the state government came with a plot to remand the defendants,” but stated that proper service and adequate preparation time are “fundamental rights enshrined in the constitution and relevant laws of the state.” Okoli expressed confidence in the accused’s legal defence.
The prosecution, represented by F.C. Okeke, had claimed the charges were properly served, while the defence argued they were not provided on time.
