As the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) concludes it Annual General Meeting, the organisation is electing leaders to run its affairs amid uncertainty. Being held at the prestigious NAF Conference Centre, the election is trying to produce a successor for Malam Mukhtar Sirajo, who has ran the affairs of the regulator which doubles as a professional assocation of the image-makers.

The main contenders for President/Chair of the Council are Nkechi Ali-Balogun and Dr Ike Neliaku, both thoroughbred public relations experts who have to win reelection into the Governing Council before their fellow council members choose either as CEO. The electoral committee cleared 29 persons interested in the 18 Governing Council positions.

The theme of the 2023 conference was “Leadership, Public Relations and Value Creation.”

At the time of filing this report, the voting was progressing according to state chapters in alphabetical order. Lagos finished voting at 10:07 pm, after which the Nasarawa State contingent filed forward.
