The traditional ruler of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Olawale, has initiated discussions with the Oyo State Water Corporation to address the persistent water supply challenges facing the ancient city and its surrounding areas.
During a meeting with the corporation’s chairman, Mr. Elias Adeojo, at his palace, the Aseyin highlighted the need for enhanced collaboration to ensure reliable water access for residents.
According to Adeojo, the primary obstacle to consistent water supply in Iseyin has been irregular power supply, a problem that affects various parts of the state. He assured that under Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, the state government is actively working to resolve these challenges.
“Provision of potable water is one of Governor Seyi Makinde’s key agendas, and he has given directives in that regard, with adequate support and assistance,” Adeojo said.
The Aseyin cited the successful partnership between the state government and the Soun of Ogbomoso in improving the water supply to Ogbomoso as inspiration for seeking similar collaboration. He expressed confidence that joint efforts could overcome current challenges and lead to tangible improvements in water access.
The traditional ruler also commended Governor Makinde’s broader development initiatives in the Oke-Ogun region, particularly in Iseyin.
Both leaders agreed to maintain ongoing dialogue and develop concrete plans to enhance water infrastructure in the region.
