Bandits are now demanding a ransom of N290 million and essential supplies for the release of seven persons kidnapped in Kuduru, a community of Bwari Area Council in Abuja. The victims, including a pregnant woman, were abducted on January 28 at the Kuduru extension. A community leader, requesting anonymity, revealed that the bandits threatened to harm two of the hostages if the ransom wasn’t paid promptly.

Additionally, the abductors have requested food items, drugs, bed sheets, and cardigans as part of the conditions for release.

“They have reached out to us to bring N290 million to secure their release or that they will kill two of them. We have a pregnant woman and three children among them. They asked us to bring bags of rice, packs of Indomie, cough syrups, antibiotics, bedsheets, and cardigans for the bandits’ use. They insist that the N290 million ransom must be complete for them to let our people go,” the community leader said.

Pleading with the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, and the Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja, to come to the rescue of the hostages, the community leader said, “We know that they are trying their best, but we plead with them to rescue our families as they did to the six sisters and the Ariyos.

Meanwhile, there was an attack on a house situated 200 metres close to a military base in Pambara, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. During the attack, one Aondo Ver, said to be one of the directors of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), was abducted. The bandits stormed the house at about 12:30 a.m. on Thursday.

The kidnappers allegedly entered through the fence. At the time of filing this report, the Army had not commented on the incident.

The spokesperson for the FHA, Kenneth Chigelu, confirmed the incident, stating that the director is an employee of its Mortgage Bank, which operates as an autonomous institution.
