UNICEF has raised serious concerns about the high rate of ante-natal deaths in Bauchi State, highlighting critical gaps in maternal healthcare access.
During a recent event naming Governor Bala Mohammed as Grand Patron of the Fathers for Good Health Group, UNICEF’s Chief of Field Office Bauchi, Nuzat Rafique, emphasised the urgent need to address preventable maternal and child health challenges.
The initiative has already made significant strides, with over 3,000 children vaccinated against potentially fatal diseases in Misau and Ningi local government areas. However, Rafique stressed the importance of expanding the programme to all 20 local government areas.
Governor Bala Mohammed pledged full support, committing to achieving 100% immunization coverage and ensuring no child or woman is left behind. He acknowledged UNICEF’s crucial role in improving the state’s health and education sectors.
The Fathers for Good Health Group aims to tackle zero-dose vaccination challenges, with the governor promising to extend the initiative to the 13 local government areas currently lacking comprehensive vaccination programmes.
