The Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas, has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to advancing pharmaceutical education and supporting the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN). This pledge came during a courtesy visit by the PSN President, Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the Vice Chancellor’s office.

According to a release by Pharm. Lizette Ezenekwe, PSN National Publicity Secretary, Pharm. Murtala Isa Umah, Chairman of the Kano State PSN, introduced the PSN delegation and outlined the purpose of the visit, which was to appreciate the Vice Chancellor for his exceptional support to the Faculty of Pharmacy and to discuss future collaborations.

AkweyaTV learnt that the Vice Chancellor, recognised for being among the few in Nigeria to graduate PharmD students, was lauded for allocating a N250 million building to the Faculty of Pharmacy, a significant boost to pharmaceutical education at the university.

Pharm. He requested Bayero University’s partnership in hosting the event, including the use of the Convocation Arena and the soon-to-be-operational university hotel.

In response, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas, expressed gratitude for the PSN’s visit and pledged the university’s full support to ensure the success of Dabo 2025. He confirmed the Convocation Arena’s readiness to host 5,000 delegates, equipped with state-of-the-art ventilation and audiovisual facilities.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders from Kano State and executives of the PSN Kano State Chapter.

The PSN President’s position was keenly contested by Dr Joel Adagadzu and Pharm. (Mrs) Ejiro Foyibo.
