The Benue State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning, Mr. Michael Oglegba, has presented a comprehensive review highlighting the transformative journey of Fr. Alia’s administration. This review showcases both its accomplishments and the roadmap ahead in shaping a brighter future for Benue State.

The Honourable Commissioner revealed this on a WhatsApp platform known as Akweya Youth Mentors on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

“As the tenure of Reverend Father Alia’s administration reaches ten months, the pulse of Benue State beats with anticipation and assessment. Amidst high expectations, the government embarked on a journey to reshape the socio-economic landscape, pledging to tackle governance inefficiencies, stimulate growth, and uplift the populace,” he stated.

Mr. Oglegba highlighted infrastructure overhaul as one of the milestones achieved. He said 16 new roads now crisscross Makurdi Town, with the inaugural overhead bridge in Makurdi and Gboko enhancing connectivity and easing traffic congestion. He added that the Benue State Secretariat also underwent a complete facelift.

Another milestone he mentioned was the refurbishing of the teaching hospital, recruiting medical professionals, and ensuring timely payment of salaries and training fees. Additionally, he said subsidies for fertilisers and inputs empowered farmers, boosting agricultural productivity.

Oglegba promised that the journey towards progress and prosperity in Benue State would continue. Despite the challenges, the commissioner declared that the government’s unwavering dedication to its promises indicates that Benue is open for business.
