Benue Governor Assigns Cabinet Portfolios, Names Controversial Law Lecturer Attorney General

Benue State Governor has completed the assignment of ministerial portfolios to recently sworn-in commissioners, with the appointment of a controversial law lecturer as Attorney General drawing particular attention to the new cabinet composition.

Dr. Ornguga Yangien has been appointed Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General.

The portfolio assignments span key sectors of governance and development, with the governor distributing responsibilities across 17 commissioners to manage various aspects of state administration.

Dr. Ornguga Yangien is now Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General.

In the economic sector, Hon. Michael Oglegba has been assigned the critical Finance portfolio, while Hon. Alumo Orpin will oversee Industry Trade and Investment. Dr. Benjamin Ashaver takes charge of Agriculture and Food Management, and Hon. Dennis Iyaighgba will manage the newly created Marine and Blue Economy ministry.

The education and human development sectors see Dr. Adamu Margaret Ijaguwa appointed as Commissioner for Education, with Hon. Dr. Paul Ejeh Ogwuche handling Health and Human Services. Tiza Isaac Imojime has been tasked with Youth Creativity and Youth development.

Infrastructure and technology portfolios have been distributed among several commissioners. Hon. Joseph Ter Jir will manage Transportation and Power Energy, Hon. James Dwem takes on Science and Technology, while Hon. Kwaghgba Amande oversees ICT and Digital Economy.

Natural resources management falls under Hon. Ugwu Odoh for Water Resources and Dr. Fredrick Ikyaan for Land matters. Dr. Ortese Yanmar has been assigned Cooperative and Rural Development.

The social services sector includes Hon. Theresa Odachi Ikwue as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Hon. Kunde Aondowase managing Humanitarian affairs.

Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo rounds out the cabinet as Commissioner for Information, a crucial position for government communication and public relations.

The completion of portfolio assignments allows the new cabinet to begin full operations across all sectors of state governance, with each commissioner now responsible for specific policy areas and implementation of the administration’s agenda.
