The Benue State Government has approved infrastructure projects worth ₦149.5 billion to transform the state’s economy and improve residents’ living conditions. The approvals came during the State Executive Council’s fourth meeting of 2025, held on Thursday at Government House, Makurdi.
Among the approvals is the immediate payment of ₦1.57 billion to Chinese firm CGC for the rehabilitation of Otobi/Otukpo and Katsina-Ala Water Works, constructed about a decade ago. The Ministry of Water Resources, Environment, and Climate Change has been directed to invite CGC to commence work to restore water supply to affected communities.
The largest allocations include ₦73.9 billion for upgrading the Mbawuar to Bako-Negher and Spur to Mbaakon Road, to be handled by Bahaus Global Investment Nigeria Ltd. The project aims to improve road safety and reduce travel time for commuters.

An additional ₦68.3 billion was approved for extending and dualising the Wurukum-Airforce Base Road, including the construction of a five-span bridge at Mu. This project, also awarded to Bahaus Global Investment, is expected to boost transportation and economic activities in the area.
Smaller but significant projects include the ₦4.6 billion reconstruction of the Assembly Complex and Clinic by Gerewa Global Engineering Ltd and the ₦1.1 billion rehabilitation of the Deputy Governor’s Lodge by Welltime Limited.
In related developments, the council acknowledged federal government approval for establishing an infectious disease control centre in Vandeikya Local Government Area, following a request from Governor Hyacinth Alia due to concerns about infectious disease cases in the state.
The infrastructure push represents one of the largest investment packages approved by the Benue government in recent years.
