Bingham University in Nasarawa State has matriculated 1,869 students for the 2024/2025 academic session, marking its 20th matriculation ceremony since its establishment.
The university, located in Karu Local Government Area, welcomed both undergraduate and postgraduate students across 15 faculties and 54 departments, with 56 undergraduate and 48 postgraduate programmes.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Haruna Ayuba challenged the new students to become worthy ambassadors of the university, emphasising the institution’s vision of producing God-fearing, self-reliant graduates.
“Attendance at lectures is compulsory and attracts 75 marks,” Ayuba warned, urging students to be security-conscious and choose friends carefully while respecting university property.
Guest speaker Associate Prof. Joy Shuaibu stressed the importance of goal-setting, hard work, and skill acquisition. “Skill acquisition is the aim of Bingham University because they are known for entrepreneurship,” she told the matriculating students.
Shuaibu advised students to manage their time effectively, build good relationships with coursemates, and not hesitate to contact lecturers when needed.
Students and parents expressed excitement about the milestone. Rebecca Abimbola from Medical Laboratory Science promised to remain focused, while Nathaniel Oke from Computer Science thanked God and his parents for the opportunity.
Parent Femi Ajide urged students to appreciate their parents’ sacrifices and work diligently towards their educational goals.
