The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) announced yesterday that it will host a regional learning meeting on Open Government Partnership (OGP) for states in Southeast Nigeria.
The meeting is part of Centre LSD’s ongoing project to promote transparency and accountability in governance through OGP implementation, according to Mr. Lawal Amodu, Programme Coordinator and OGP Project Lead for the organisation.

“This gathering aims to deepen and sustain the successes recorded in the Southeast states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, and Enugu, as well as Delta State, which is the only state in the South-south region to have signed up to the OGP,” Amodu said in a statement.
The event will bring together stakeholders from across the region to share experiences, challenges, and best practices in implementing open government initiatives. It follows a similar successful meeting held last week in Akure, Ondo State, for Southwest Nigeria.
Centre LSD has invited interested citizens who cannot attend in person to follow the proceedings through the organisation’s social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) under the hashtag #OGPOpenNigeria.
The Open Government Partnership is a multilateral initiative that aims to secure concrete commitments from governments to promote transparency, empower citizens, fight corruption, and harness new technologies to strengthen governance.
The Centre LSD has been working to expand participation in the initiative at the subnational level throughout Nigeria.
