The African Leadership, Strategy Development (Centre LSD) has announced an upcoming virtual policy dialogue focused on establishing credibility thresholds for Nigerian elections.
The event, scheduled for Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM West Central Africa Time, will bring together stakeholders to examine the indicators, drivers, and inhibitors that define acceptable levels of credibility in Nigeria’s electoral processes.
“Elections are veritable mechanisms by which leaders are pivoted into office in liberal democratic systems,” Centre LSD stated in its invitation. “For any election outcome to be seen as credible and a true reflection of the will, yearnings and aspirations of the voting electorate, it must meet certain acceptable thresholds.”
The dialogue aims to develop a framework for assessing election credibility within Nigeria’s specific context and will propose concrete policy actions to achieve higher standards in future elections.
This initiative comes as part of Centre LSD’s ongoing programming on election affairs in Nigeria, which has focused on strengthening democratic institutions and processes in the country.
The virtual event will be hosted via Zoom, making it accessible to participants from various locations. Those interested in attending can join using Meeting ID: 838 7748 8048 with Passcode: 965852.
