This year’s summit will operate under the theme “Toward a More Inclusive Governance of AI,” as concerns grow over the need for inclusive oversight of rapidly advancing AI technologies.
reflecting growing international and domestic pressure to ensure AI technologies are developed and deployed with transparency, accountability, and fairness at their core.
CITAD officials stated that the summit will examine how AI governance impacts critical sectors, including government operations, education, healthcare, security, and civic participation. The conference aims to address how AI can serve public interests while protecting human rights, ethical standards, and democratic values.
Since its launch in 2019, KANSIS has evolved into a premier platform that attracts social influencers, policymakers, digital rights advocates, academics, and development professionals from Nigeria and across Africa. The annual event has established itself as a key forum for discussing responsible digital engagement and technology policy.
The summit organisers are accepting proposals from a diverse range of stakeholders, including civil society organisations, media and advocacy groups, academic institutions, tech companies, government agencies, and individual experts. The call for applications specifically targets those with expertise, experience, or projects related to AI governance.
Expected attendees include policymakers, technology leaders, civil society representatives, academics, digital influencers, and youth organisations, creating a multidisciplinary environment for examining AI’s societal impact.
Nigeria and other African nations have been grappling with how to regulate AI technologies that are increasingly being deployed across various sectors without comprehensive oversight frameworks. The summit’s focus on inclusive governance reflects broader concerns that AI development has often proceeded without adequate input from affected communities.
CITAD’s call for session hosts represents an opportunity for stakeholders to shape critical conversations about AI’s role in Nigeria’s digital future. The organisation stated that it seeks sessions that align with the summit’s theme of promoting inclusive AI governance.
Interested parties can submit session proposals through an online application system, with submissions due by August 30, 2025. Additional information is available through CITAD’s official communication channels.
The two-day summit is expected to produce recommendations and policy discussions that could influence Nigeria’s approach to AI regulation and governance, potentially serving as a model for other African nations developing their own AI oversight frameworks.
