Federal civil servants have until February 17 to verify their identities on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) or risk salary suspension, as the government intensifies efforts to eliminate ghost workers from its payroll.
The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation announced a one-week extension from the initial February 10 deadline, allowing civil servants additional time to complete their verification through the OAGF-IPPIS Payroll Validation Portal.

The directive comes amid growing concerns about payroll fraud in the civil service. In June 2024, former Head of Service Folasade Yemi-Esan revealed that some civil servants who had relocated abroad continued to receive salaries, prompting President Bola Tinubu to demand repayment and accountability from supervisors.
The government has instructed Accounting Officers, Directors of Finance and Accounts, and Internal Audit Units across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to ensure full compliance with the verification exercise.
Civil servants can access the verification portal at www.oagf.gov.ng, with the deadline set for midnight on February 17, 2025. The government stressed that non-compliance would result in immediate suspension from the payroll.
The extension provides a final opportunity for civil servants to regularise their status and maintain their positions on the federal payroll.
