The International Communication Association (ICA) Nigeria Chapter has congratulated two of its distinguished members, Dr. Obari Gomba and Ms. Ashley Stewart, for their remarkable recent achievements in their respective fields over the weekend.
Dr. Obari Gomba, an accomplished writer and dedicated lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt, has been honoured with the prestigious The Nigeria Prize for Literature in the year 2023. Worth US$100,000, this esteemed recognition follows Dr. Gomba’s continuous dedication and passion for literature, as well as his remarkable contributions to the field.

His exceptional work, the book titled “Grit,” a profound exploration of drama, earned him this extraordinary accolade. Dr. Gomba, who was nominated five times in the past for this esteemed prize, was declared the winner by Prof. Akachi Ezeigbo, Chairman of the Prize Advisory Board of The Nigeria Prize for Literature, on Friday, October 13, 2023.
In another momentous achievement, Ms. Ashley Stewart, a remarkable lecturer and talented visual designer at the University of Port Harcourt, was elected as the International Liaison for the Visual Communication Division of the International Communication Association (ICA) on the same date, October 13, 2023.
According the ICA Nigeria statement, Ms Stewart’s appointment to this esteemed position within the global communication body is a testament to her expertise, dedication, and outstanding contributions in the field of visual communication.
The ICA Nigeria Chapter expressed their delight in celebrating “the hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence that distinguishes Dr. Obari Gomba and Ms. Ashley Stewart”, adding that their accomplishments are “a source of pride for our community, and we are confident that their continued dedication will inspire and lead the way for others in their respective fields.”
