The Daily Trust Foundation has concluded a two-day intensive training workshop on broadcast and digital production, bringing together 26 journalists from various media organisations at its headquarters in Abuja. The training, held from Tuesday, June 24 to Thursday, June 26, 2025, aimed to strengthen the capacity of media professionals in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Top media practitioners facilitated the sessions, sharing real-life industry experiences and offering practical guidance tailored to help participants navigate both newsroom and on-the-go challenges.
Organised under the Foundation’s Media Enterprise Lab (MEL) initiative, the programme is part of a broader effort to equip journalists with essential skills in multimedia production, freelance media practice, and content monetisation. Supported by the MacArthur Foundation, MEL is a direct response to the economic and professional instability affecting media practitioners nationwide.
So far, the Foundation’s training efforts have covered a wide range of subjects, including social media content production; legal and ethical issues in journalism; news writing and reporting; and documentary production.
As the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of the Media Trust Group—publishers of Daily Trust titles, Trust TV, Trust Radio, and Digital Trust—the Daily Trust Foundation remains committed to promoting excellence and sustainability in journalism.
The latest training is part of a series of workshops aimed at providing Nigerian journalists with the tools and strategies they need to remain relevant and resilient in today’s dynamic media environment.
The Foundation had earlier trained 21 journalists from Northwest Nigeria in Kaduna on the 27th of May 2025.
