Jigawa State Governor, Mallam Umar Namadi, is mourning the loss of two close family members within 24 hours. His eldest son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024, in a ghastly car accident along the Dutse-Kafin Hausa road. This incident occurred just a day after the governor’s mother, Hajia Maryam Namadi, died following a brief illness as the world was marking Christmas.
A statement from the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Hamisu Mohammed Gumel, confirmed the tragic news:
“With a heavy heart and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, His Excellency Mallam Umar Namadi, Governor of Jigawa State, announces the passing of yet another member of his family; his dear son Abdulwahab Umar Namadi. He departed this world this afternoon as a result of a ghastly motor accident along Dutse-Kafin-Hausa Road.”
Abdulwahab, 24, was the only fatality in the crash, while his friend sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The young man is survived by his parents and several siblings. His burial will take place in Kafin Hausa town on Friday in accordance with the dictates of islam.
Hajia Maryam Namadi, the governor’s mother, passed away at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital following a brief illness. She was laid to rest the same day, 25 December 2024 per Islamic traditions.
