The workshop, held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, aimed to equip ministry photographers with the skills to tell humanitarian stories through visuals.

Speaking at the training, the Executive Director of dRPC, represented by the Director of Programmes, Dr Stanley Ukpai, stated the importance of photography and videography in communicating the ministry’s impact stories to the public.

Director of Partnerships Development and Communication at dRPC, Mallam Hassan A. Korafi, said that photography could be used to reflect the reality of things and also help the government know when and where to intervene.

Different topics, such as core photography skills, assessing the current work of the Humanitarian Ministry and humanitarian contexts and ethics, and cultural and psychological awareness, were taught by Dr. Theophilus Abbah and Mr. Jackson Odeh. They also shared different experiences from their fields and how they can help showcase the ministry’s effort to the public.

In an interview with AkweyaTV, one of the participants, a photographer for the ministry, Simeon Karrina Dokgak, said, “It was a wonderful moment of learning more about framing, lighting, etc. The facilitators shared their knowledge with us, and I’m looking forward to better work delivery after this.”

The training workshop is part of dRPC’s 30 years of supporting inclusive development through capacity building.
