The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has issued a directive requiring all federal tertiary institutions with recruitment waivers to publicly advertise their job vacancies, according to a statement released Thursday.
The ministry’s Director of Press, Folasade Boriowo, told reporters in Abuja that institutions must advertise open positions in at least one national daily newspaper, on their respective websites, and in relevant academic and professional journals.
“This directive aims to ensure a transparent, open, and competitive recruitment process that offers equal opportunity to all eligible Nigerians,” Dr. Alausa stated.

The minister explained that the order follows waivers granted to federal tertiary institutions based on their submitted manpower requirements, reflecting “the ministry’s commitment to enhancing the capacity of our higher education institutions.”
Dr. Alausa also reminded all federal tertiary institutions to submit their recruitment needs to the ministry for review by the Committee on Waiver and Recruitment.
The Education Ministry has established mechanisms to monitor compliance and warned that sanctions would be applied against any institution failing to adhere to the directive.
“The Federal Ministry of Education remains firmly dedicated to promoting integrity and fairness in all matters related to the Nigerian higher education system,” the minister stated.
