Equal Measures 2030 (EM2030) has announced the launch of its 2025 Storytelling with Data Fellowship, a fully-funded opportunity aimed at empowering feminist storytellers, journalists, and gender advocates worldwide. The six-month programme will equip participants with skills to transform gender data into compelling narratives that drive policy change and social impact.
According to the call posted on the Opportunities for Youth website, “When gender data is effectively used, it strengthens advocacy efforts, provides evidence for policy change, and amplifies feminist narratives. The fellowship bridges the critical gap between data, storytelling, and activism.”
The programme, which requires 120-180 hours over six months, will accept applications from qualified individuals in Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa, with two fellows selected from each region. Grassroots feminist organisations and gender equality influencers committed to data-driven activism are encouraged to apply.
Selected fellows will participate in four structured phases, beginning with an April 1st onboarding focused on the 2024 SDG Gender Index, followed by mentorship and training in narrative building, data visualization, and audience engagement. Fellows will then develop multimedia content including blogs, videos, infographics, and podcasts before a final dissemination phase.
Each participant will receive a $500 stipend, paid in two installments, to cover production costs and creative expenses. Fellows will be expected to produce two storytelling pieces in their chosen format and will be encouraged to collaborate across regions to highlight shared gender challenges globally.
Applications close on March 9, 2025. Interested candidates can access the application form through the EM2030 website or click here.
This fellowship is a unique opportunity for feminist movements seeking to strengthen their impact through data-driven advocacy as it would enable them to develop the skills needed to translate complex gender data into accessible, compelling stories that can influence policy and drive meaningful change.
