Children of Ogyoma community have generated excitement after winning the March Past category at the 8th Akweya Children’s Carnival, held on Saturday, 27th May 2023 at Otobi, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State. Other schools that stood out included Idoma Community Secondary School Otobi, Emmanuel Academy Adankari, Adim Model Science, and LGEA Akwete.
According to a member of the organising committee of the Children’s Carnival, Mrs Rose Aleje, “The Akweya Children’s Carnival celebration this year was mind blowing. I was overwhelmed by their performances. They where so committed and dedicated to it all. Both the private and public schools put in their best to make it successful.”
Mrs Aleje, who runs a campaign against teenage pregnancy and teenage school dropouts, also praised those that mentor the children. “May God protect our teachers for us. They where all coordinated and organised. I sincerely appreciate them for all they are doing in building a better and greater Akweya.
“I will also want to use this opportunity to say thank you to the District Head for his fatherly advice given to us, and also being there for the children. May God bless Your Highness sir. Thanks to all the dignitaries and our parents for the encouragement and the massive outcome, without your presence the occasion wouldn’t have been great. Lastly, AkweyaTV, it’s only God that can reward you for the constant support 🙏 and to all those who contributed, financially, materially, and spiritually. May God in his infinite Mercy bless and protect you all ainya.”
Also speaking, the founder and promoter of the 8-year-old Akweya Children’s Carnival, Mrs Ochanya Ojofu, said, “I don’t know how to appreciate all those who made this a success. Is its financial support from eminent persons like Mr Abba Giant Adaudu, Dr Sam Ogiri, Engr Ralph Idoko, Engr Paul Anthony Ogor, Mr Friday Idah, Mr Stanley, Prof Perpetual Odugbo, or the ACDA President, Mr Maurice Adiga Agor?
“We cannot forget Mr David Akoji and
Mr Sunday Ebbah, and the royal blessings and presence by our traditional and spiritual fathers, especially the District Head of Akweya, Agaba Idu, Chief (Pastor) Wilson Great Ahola.”
