The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has temporarily closed Runway 18R/36L at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Ikeja for rehabilitation work.

Part of Lagos Airport runway

The closure, which began at 3:00 a.m. on Monday, will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a statement released by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Obiageli Orah.

The shutdown is necessary to facilitate ongoing rehabilitation work on the asphalt phase of the A2 Taxiway link, part of FAAN’s efforts to maintain the runway in optimal condition.

Despite the closure, air travelers need not worry about flight disruptions. Orah confirmed that all flights will be redirected to the alternative runway, 18L/36R, during the rehabilitation period.

The authority reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of all airport users throughout the temporary closure.
