The newly opened road infrastructure includes three major access routes designed to navigate the estate’s challenging mountainous terrain, with residents finally able to drive directly to their homes after years of parking outside the development.
“This area was mountainous. We had to apply high-level professionalism and ensure quality standards. The road will greatly improve access to the estate and link it to neighbouring areas,” said FHA Executive Director of Project Implementation, Mr Remi Omowaye, during the commissioning ceremony.

The infrastructure achievement comes as FHA prepares for what Managing Director and Chief Executive Mr Oyetunde Ojo described as an imminent “nationwide ground-breaking process” for housing projects across the country.
Speaking at the road commissioning, Ojo urged Nigerians to register early for upcoming housing opportunities, noting the cost benefits of early participation. “Those who register early always get it at a price you wouldn’t believe,” he said, directing interested applicants to use the FHA website or visit zonal offices.
The FHA chief explained that the authority operates with limited government funding and runs as a cost-effective, private-sector-like entity, making early registration crucial for accessing affordable units. He cautioned Nigerians against scammers, stressing that registration should only be done through official channels, including the FHA website or offices in Asokoro and other zones.
Beyond housing, Ojo revealed plans to commission what he described as Nigeria’s tallest and biggest shopping mall on 3rd Avenue in Gwarinpa, Abuja. The facility will feature 59 shops across a four-storey structure, topped with a 250-seater penthouse hall.
The road network addresses longstanding challenges faced by Apo-Guzape residents. Dr Bitrus Ndangra, a resident, praised the completion, saying it solved access problems that had persisted for three years.
“We had to park our cars outside the estate. Now, with this road, we can drive to our homes. It will enhance both movement and security,” Ndangra said.
According to Omowaye, the First Avenue road spans 12 metres in width, while the 13th Crescent functions as a residential close. One of the three roads serves as a collector route, specifically designed to handle the estate’s difficult topography.
