The Hill-Top Creative Art Foundation has announced the Nigeria Prize for Teen Authors, an esteemed literary award with a total worth of over three million naira. The competition will reward winners in both poetry and prose genres, with a total of N600,000 up for grabs. The first-place winner in each genre will receive N150,000, the second-place winner will get N100,000, and the third-place winner will be awarded N50,000.
In addition to the cash prizes, the winning authors will have their books published at a cost of N2.8 million, and they will receive these published copies for free. In some cases of ties, seven books will be published instead of the usual six, with the tie-breaking decision being left untouched.
To enter the competition, authors must submit three hard copies of their entry along with evidence of Nigerian citizenship, birth certificate, letters of recommendation from school and parents, and the last term’s report sheet, according to the genre’s guidelines. The submissions should be sent to the Hill-Top Creative Art Foundation Headquarters in Minna, Niger State, before the deadline of 30th November 2023.
The Hadiza Ibrahim Aliyu Schools Festival (HIASFEST), held annually in Minna, is an exceptional literary festival and the largest in Nigeria. The Nigeria Prize for Teen Authors is the most prestigious award presented at HIASFEST, celebrating the remarkable talent of young Nigerian writers.
