The annual High Achievers in Art Festival (HIASFEST) is set to culminate in a celebration of artistic innovation and mentorship as the High Achievers Contemporary Foundation (HCAF) presents the prestigious Golden Award to three exceptional Nigerian contemporary art administrators. The awards, presented by the visionary Gen. Abba Dikko, aim to acknowledge and honour the tireless efforts of these individuals in creating robust platforms for young Nigerian artists, particularly writers, in the burgeoning world of contemporary art.
The awardees, who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to nurturing emerging artistic talents, have been instrumental in fostering an environment conducive to growth and creativity for young writers and artists. These platforms include establishing prestigious awards, curating literary journals, organising vibrant literary festivals, supporting the publication of budding writers, and offering other vital assistance to young artists across Nigeria.
In a significant gesture of appreciation, the three recipients will each receive a cash prize of N100,000 at the grand finale of HIASFEST. The ceremony will take place at the distinguished Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre in Minna, marking a fitting end to the 2024 edition of the festival.
Gen. Abba Dikko’s philanthropic gesture underscores his dedication to promoting and fostering the arts in Nigeria. The cash prize, totaling N500,000, is divided into N300,000 as the award itself and N200,000 contributed to HCAF, the administrators of the prize. This financial support not only recognises the awardees’ contributions but also underscores the importance of sustaining initiatives that uplift the artistic community.
The founder of HCAF, Baba M. Dzukogi, expressed his excitement about the upcoming award ceremony. “This recognition is a testament to the remarkable efforts of these administrators, who have been champions of young talent in our country. Their dedication to providing opportunities for artists to flourish is truly commendable and deserves this spotlight,” Dzukogi said.
The names of the winners are eagerly anticipated by the artistic community and the general public alike. The announcement will shine a light on the individuals who have gone above and beyond to support the artistic future of Nigeria.
As HIASFEST 2024 approaches its climax, all eyes are on the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre, Minna, where the celebration of creativity, mentorship, and the indomitable spirit of Nigerian art administrators will take centre stage on January 17th.
