How PDP Brought Landmark Developmental Projects to Akweya –Adaudu
The Leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Akweya, Akpa District of Otukpo Local Government of Benue State, Comrade Abba Adaudu, has said that his belief in equity, fairness and justice stands despite the unfavourable outcome of the election for his party.
This was contained in his speech at a reception organised for him by the members of Allan Ward Community Chairmen’s Forum in his Allan Akpa residence on Saturday 19th May 2023.
Comrade Adaudu stated that he also shares in the joy of the victory of Hon Kennedy Angbo, more so that he has been a major strategist in ensuring that the Otukpo/Akpa State Constituency seat comes to Akweya.
The Chairman of the Allan Ward Chairmen’s Forum, Mr Sunday Odaba, who is also the Chairman of Akwete Community, in an interview with AkweyaTV, said that the purpose of the reception in honour of Adaudu is beyond party affiliations, but to appreciate him for his massive developmental strides in Allan Ward and to cheer him up for the defeat of his Party and the challenges he had at the period immediately preceding the general elections.
Mr Sunday Odaba, while speaking at the reception, said that they have been following Abba Adaudu even before their knowledge of politics. He however lamented the neglect of the Community Chairmen in the sharing of political benefits, that it is the beaded Chiefs and Ondagyes who were instead remembered in the sharing of things after the Chairmen have laboured.
The Secretary of the PDP in Otukpo Local Government, Benue State and former Counsellor who represented Allan Ward, Honourable Pius Akpa Ekape, appreciated Abba Adaudu for ensuring that an Akweya man wins the election for Otukpo/Akpa State Assembly seat, and assured him of their continued loyalty.
The association, Community Chairmen’s Forum, is made of all the Community Chairmen in Allan Ward and their Secretaries, Commanders of Security team and Community youth leaders in Allan Ward.
Others who spoke to honour and appreciate Hon Abba Adaudu include, Adogwu Christopher, Secretary Chairmen’s Forum, Opeh Joseph Ochinya (Youth Chairman Ogyoma), Ogbibo Sunday (Head of Security), Mr. Stephen Ochegbudu (former Chairman Ogyoma Community) and the Patron of the Chairmen’s Forum Mr Ojochi Onogwu.
“Comrade Abba Adaudu is someone who has been passionate about the development of Akweya and his cry for equity and fairness is in favour of Otobi Ward. This explains the need to come to show him how grateful we are.”-Hon Peter Ode
Comrade Adaudu appreciated the Forum for taking their time to solidarise with him. “Those are the pathways of life especially when you work with the money sector. These people must at one point or the other call you for certain clarifications,” referring to his encounter with the anti-graft agency EFCC.
Abba Adaudu however lamented some unsavoury incidents during the episode, with some spreading unfounded stories intending to sow discord, and what he termed “the posture of indifference by home security towards obvious intentions to brew violence with visible possession of weapons.”
On the issue of land ownership between Ejor and Adim, Hon Adaudu charge the people to focus more on protecting the Akweya territory from being encroached.
Earlier on Friday evening 19th May 2023, the PDP stakeholders of Otobi Ward also organised a reception for Comrade Abba Adaudu to appreciate him for his concern for Otobi Ward as he strives for equitable distribution of political power and opportunities between Allan and Otobi Ward.
According to the former Speaker Otukpo Legislative Council and former Counsellor Otobi Ward, Hon Peter Ode, “Comrade Abba Adaudu is someone who has been passionate about the development of Akweya and his cry for equity and fairness is in favour of Otobi Ward. This explains the need to come to show him how grateful we are.”
Comrade Abba Adaudu who arrived Ejor Akpa, his country home in the company of the PDP flag bearer for Otukpo/Akpa State Assembly seat, Barrister Abba John Abba, and a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Benue State on Media, Hon Nelson Ogbu, praised the resilience and zero discouragement demonstrated by the Otobi Ward PDP members despite losing at the polls at many levels.
Abba Adaudu however charged them to be consoled by the fact that they were the actual winners because the PDP was the frontliner of the negotiations to zone the Otukpo/Akpa State Constituency seat to Akweya.
