The appeal came during Jobberman Nigeria’s HR Fusion series held on Friday in Lagos, where industry professionals gathered to discuss effective talent management strategies for sustainable business growth. The event, supported by the Mastercard Foundation, brought together recruiters, hiring managers, and business leaders from across Nigeria’s corporate landscape.

Head of People and Culture at Jobberman Nigeria, Samantha Ifezulike, described the conference theme as critical for addressing contemporary HR challenges. She noted how the platform enables organisations to explore innovative hiring practices while adapting to rapidly changing workplace expectations.

“The connections we make are just as important as the conversations on talent management,” Ifezulike noted, highlighting Jobberman’s expansion of job centres across 14 Nigerian states. These centres provide skills training to help job seekers become workplace-ready while offering employers access to qualified talent through free recruitment services.

The initiative forms part of Jobberman’s broader commitment to creating dignified employment opportunities, particularly for women and persons with disabilities, according to Ifezulike.

Chief Talent Officer at YF Talent Partners, Yemi Faseun, challenged HR professionals to fundamentally rethink their organisational roles. He argued that human resources departments should focus on equipping line managers with essential leadership competencies rather than handling direct people management.

“The crux of human resources is to work with line managers in an advisory capacity throughout the employee life cycle,” Faseun explained, reiterating the need for HR professionals to bridge generational workplace gaps in an increasingly volatile business environment.

Faseun urged HR leaders to abandon generational stereotyping in favour of understanding diverse workforce perspectives. He stressed that effective talent management in modern organisations requires leadership approaches built on trust, empathy, and emotional connectivity.

Workplace inclusion emerged as another key theme during discussions. Jobberman’s Head of Marketing, Babajide Anjorin, advocated for comprehensive inclusion policies that prioritise skills and competence over demographic characteristics.

“When everybody feels like part of the system, they become more confident to contribute solutions,” Anjorin stated, linking inclusive practices to improved innovation, creativity, and organisational performance.

He specifically called on HR professionals to create environments where young women feel safe, empowered, and valued as equal contributors to organisational success.
