Poetry enthusiasts and literary aficionados are in for a treat as the Cross Country Poetry Celebration (CCPC) 2024 comes to Ibadan with a promise to captivate. The event, scheduled for Saturday, October 26, 2034, at Alliance Francaise, Seventh Day Adventist Road, Iyaganku, Ibadan, is set to be a jubilant celebration of the power and pleasure of poetry.
Organised by Poets in Nigeria (PIN) in collaboration with the South West Authors’ Forum (SWAF), the CCPC 2024 aims to create a dream-like encounter between poets and poetry, bringing verse to life through performance and interaction. The celebration will feature a blend of poetry, music, and dance, offering attendees a multi-sensory experience.
The event boasts an impressive lineup of dignitaries and literary figures. Prof. Niyi Osundare, a renowned Nigerian poet, will deliver the keynote address on the theme “The Power and Pleasure of Poetry.” Special Guest Poet Dike Chukwumeije is also slated to perform, adding to the event’s allure.
Other notable attendees include Dr. Bayo Adebowale (Asiwaju of Adeyipo), Oloye Saheed Oladele (Baameko of Ibadan), Barrister Niyi Aborisade (A Mogaji of Ibadan), and Prof. Mark Nwagu of the University of Ibadan.
Ebika Anthony and Busayo Fakunle will serve as host and co-host, respectively, guiding attendees through an afternoon of poetic dishes that promise to delight and inspire.
