Professor Sylvester Odion Akhaine of the Political Science Department at Lagos State University (LASU) will deliver the institution’s 103rd inaugural lecture on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

The lecture, titled “Shifting for Good: The Weapon of Empiricism in the Disorder of a Third Wave of Democracy in Africa,” will take place at the Buba Marwa Auditorium on LASU’s main campus in Ojo, Lagos, at 3:00 p.m.

Professor Akhaine’s presentation is expected to examine the empirical evidence surrounding democratic transitions in Africa and their implications for the continent’s political development.

The inaugural lecture continues LASU’s tradition of showcasing the scholarly achievements and research contributions of its academic staff. The event is open to the academic community and the public.
