The Zazzau Emirate has provided an update on the funeral arrangements for the late Alhaji Umar Shehu Idris, Dan Isan Zazzau, whose death was announced late Tuesday, 8 October 2024. According to a post shared on Tuesday night on the Emirate’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the funeral prayers will now take place at the Emir’s Palace in Zaria, Kaduna State, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, instead of the previously announced location.

The Emirate urged the public to “please take note of the changes accordingly” in their communication.
Earlier in the day, the Emirate had announced that the funeral prayers would be held at the residence of the late Dan Isa Abdulkarim in Rimin Tsiwa, Zaria. However, the sudden change in venue has been officially confirmed as final.
The tragic passing of Alhaji Umar Shehu Idris was announced in a statement from the Zazzau Emirate, which expressed deep sorrow over his death. The prince died in a road accident along the Kaduna-Abuja road earlier Tuesday afternoon.
The Emirate’s official account, @Zazzau_Emirate, posted: “It is with a heavy heart but with total submission to the will of Allah SWT, Zazzau Emirate announces the death of ALHAJI UMAR SHEHU IDRIS, Dan Isan Zazzau.” The tweet concluded with the Islamic prayer for the deceased: “Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un.”
The Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Malam Dr. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, expressed his grief over the loss of the esteemed prince, who held a significant role in the Emirate.
