
The Deputy Minority Whip of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. (Pst) Blessed Onah, has felicitated with His Royal Majesty, the Tor Tiv, Prof. James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, on the occasion of his eighth coronation anniversary as the paramount ruler of the Tiv nation.
In a congratulatory message sent to AkweyaTV, Pastor Onah, who represents Oju 1 State Constituency, commended the Tor Tiv for his visionary leadership and efforts in reforming the traditional institution in Tiv land and Benue State at large. He acknowledged the monarch’s role in upholding cultural values and fostering moral revival within the state.
“As the Chairman of the Benue State Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty has brought remarkable reforms to the traditional institution, ensuring that our customs align with principles of justice, equity, and peace. His reign has been a beacon of hope and transformation for the Tiv people,” Onah stated in the message signed by Johnson Akahi, Senior Legislative Aide to the Deputy Minority Whip.
The lawmaker urged Prof. Ayatse to continue using his influence to promote peace and harmony across Benue State, emphasising that unity among the people is crucial for the progress and development of the land.

He also offered prayers for the monarch, wishing him continued wisdom, strength, and the divine guidance of King Solomon as he leads the Tiv nation into the future.
His Royal Majesty, Tor Tiv V, Prof. James Ayatse, was crowned on March 4, 2017, following his election by the Tiv Supreme Council (Ijir Tamen) in December 2016. A distinguished academic, he previously served as Vice-Chancellor at both the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, and the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, making history as the first Tiv man to hold such academic leadership positions before ascending the throne.
Under his reign, the Tor Tiv, who turns 69 on 12 May, has emphasised modernisation, cultural preservation, and the integration of traditional leadership with contemporary governance to foster socio-economic development in Tiv land.
