Montero Lamar Hill, the chart-topping artist known as Lil Nas X, was booked into Los Angeles County’s Valley Jail on Thursday following an unusual early morning encounter with police on one of the city’s busiest thoroughfares. The incident began around 4 a.m. Thursday, when multiple callers reported a naked man on the major Los Angeles street, according to police statements. Officers responding to the scene encountered Hill, who was subsequently arrested and briefly hospitalised on suspicion of a drug overdose before being discharged and transported to jail several hours later.

Lil Nas X is seen in this video captured by TMZ, walking the streets on an overdose.

Celebrity news outlet TMZ published video footage that purportedly shows Hill walking along Ventura Boulevard wearing only underwear and cowboy boots. The unverified footage appears to capture the artist singing and posing while making references to a party.

The arrest is a dramatic turn for the artist who transformed from internet sensation to mainstream success with his 2018 breakout hit “Old Town Road.” The genre-bending single not only earned Hill two Grammy Awards but also set a record for the longest consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Following the success of his debut, Hill released his first full-length studio album, “Montero,” in 2021. Fans are currently awaiting his upcoming project “Dreamboy,” which is scheduled for release later this year.

Hill remains in custody at the Valley Jail in Van Nuys, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff records.
