Following Sunday Mass on 11th May 2025, Reverend Father George Ehusani, the founder of Lux Terra Leadership Foundation, passionately addressed members of the congregation, urging them to actively participate in local fundraising efforts to support the Foundation’s ongoing work. This, the clergyman said, is in direct response to dwindling foreign aid funds from the United States and other countries.

Drawing attention to Lux Terra’s commitment to societal transformation through leadership training, public awareness campaigns, and policy advocacy, as outlined in the organisation’s documents, Father Ehusani emphasised the need for greater local financial support. He highlighted the fact that Lux Terra operates independently, without relying on financial contributions from dioceses, congregations, or parishes within Nigeria.

Father Ehusani disclosed that the network of supporters include media organisations that broadcast Lux Terr’s programmes. “We have over 12 Hours of weekly TV airtime on AIT, Lumen Christi TV, Catholic TV, Kaftan TV, Quest TV, Viewers TV, NTA Keffi, NTA Abakaliki, etc, promoting the Christian faith & Christian values and we do not pay for most of these,” he disclosed.
Referencing the existing network of dedicated individuals across the country who consistently contribute to Lux Terra’s programmes, Father Ehusani encouraged more members of the local community to join their ranks as “SUPPORTERS” or “PARTNERS.” He noted the diverse range of current contributions from Christians, Muslims and people of diverse faiths, with amounts spanning from N5,000 to N300,000 monthly, demonstrating the potential for collective impact.
The non-profit who is also an author and musician, expressed his gratitude to foundations that supported Lux Terra from inception. “Lux Terra has survived over the years on account of the generous support of some organisations and individuals like the German church agencies Missereor (which funded 3 years staff salaries from 2009 to 2011) and Missio, which funded the office building, part of the chapel building, studio facility, the establishment and operations of the Psycho-Spiritual Institute from 2010-2016.
Other donors Father Ehusani said, included the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation which supported with furnishing some of the structures in Abuja and the Nairobi office of the Lux Terra and Ford Foundation which paid for the replacement solar batteries worth N120,000,000.
Father Ehusani specifically called on the congregation not only to consider becoming active financial supporters but also to become “PROMOTERS” of Lux Terra, actively recruiting others to support the Foundation’s mission. He framed this call to action as a personal contribution to the mission of evangelisation.
Ehusani appreciated existing partners and was transparent about the organisation’s income and expenditure profiles.

The presentation concluded with an invitation for interested individuals to fill out financial support commitment forms, which many in his audience obliged. This direct appeal to a wider range of stakeholders reveals Lux Terra’s strategy to cultivate a strong base of local support to sustain its impactful work in leadership development and societal transformation through accountable and transparent engagement.
