The Hill-Top Creative Arts Foundation (HCAF) in Minna, Niger State, will inaugurate a new African Poetry Library today, January 13.
The library, part of the African Poetry Book Fund’s continental initiative by the University of Nebraska, will be officially opened by Hon. Bello Ibrahim, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Niger State Deputy Governor. The ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 PM at the HCAF headquarters on David Mark Road, Minna.
Nigerian poet Saddiq M. Dzukogi, who facilitated the project, says the library aims to promote African poetry and provide resources for emerging writers in the region. The facility joins a network of similar libraries, designed to preserve and promote African poetic traditions.
The African Poetry Book Fund has established several such libraries across Africa, working to create accessible spaces for poetry readers and writers. These libraries typically house contemporary poetry collections, literary journals, and writing resources.
The inauguration is open to the public and represents a significant milestone for Minna’s growing literary community. The library is expected to serve as a cultural hub for poets, writers, and literature enthusiasts in Niger State and beyond.
