In a bid to foster youth entrepreneurship and technological proficiency, the MTN Foundation has announced the commencement of the sixth phase of its ICT and business skills training capacity-building program. Executive Secretary of MTN Foundation, Odunayo Sanya, revealed that the sixth phase of the training programme is set to concentrate on young entrepreneurs from Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Kebbi, Niger, and Yobe states. Highlighting the significance of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) as pivotal components of a robust economy, Sanya emphasised the commitment of the technology company to equip the Nigerian youth with the necessary skills for success in a digital world.
The forthcoming training will be delivered through a five-week online programme in collaboration with industry giants Microsoft and Meta. With a vision to bridge the gap between young individuals and the skills imperative for thriving in the digital era, MTN Foundation has already partnered with renowned organisations such as Oracle, KPMG, IBM, Digital Bridge Institute, CISCO, Google, Meta, and Microsoft in previous phases.
Sanya further disclosed that a total of 3000 young entrepreneurs are expected to undergo training in this sixth phase. As part of the initiative’s incentives, the top 300 participants will receive an equipment grant of N90 million upon completing the programme. The overarching goal of the ICT training programme remains focused on equipping Nigerian youth with the technological proficiencies required to cultivate sustainable businesses within the nation.
MTN Foundation’s youth development initiative has previously successfully implemented five phases of the ICT and business skills training programme in partnership with various industry leaders. These initiatives have reached 16 states in Nigeria, contributing significantly to the empowerment and skill enhancement of aspiring young entrepreneurs.
As the sixth phase takes off, the MTN Foundation continues to exemplify its dedication to fostering youth development and cultivating a thriving ecosystem of technologically adept and enterprising individuals across Nigeria.
