The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has formed a strategic partnership with the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) to digitise its examination processes and modernise its ICT infrastructure.
NABTEB’s Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Aminu Mohammed, announced that the collaboration was formalised on April 29 during a meeting with NASENI representatives at the board’s headquarters in Benin.
The planned digital transformation aims to streamline operations, enhance examination security, and comply with federal government directives mandating full digitisation of examinations by 2026.
“Strengthening the board’s ICT capabilities is even more critical given the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa’s strong commitment to functional education and his push to ensure examination bodies adopt computer-based testing by 2026 in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” Dr. Mohammed explained.
The NABTEB chief recalled an earlier meeting with NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman and CEO, Mr. Khalil Halilu, who pledged to help establish a dedicated digital ICT department for the examination board. Mr. Halilu committed to delivering a fully equipped ICT building to NABTEB within six months.
Special Adviser on Emerging Technology to NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman, Mr. Bashir Aliyu, assured NABTEB of the agency’s complete support in its digitisation efforts. “We are here to support you. We are here to help you with digitisation. We did it at NASENI. This is the way forward—to help you leapfrog by relying on ICT,” Aliyu stated.
Dr. Mohammed, who assumed office in March, has expressed his commitment to digitising the examination process, stating that the initiative would reduce human errors, shorten processing times, and improve overall operational efficiency.
