In a letter dated September 23, 2025, Prof. Babafemi A. Badejo, chairman of the committee, cited a decision by the First-Tier Tribunal Property Chamber Land Registration of the United Kingdom in Case Number REF/2023/0155.

The case, between Tali Shani as applicant and Chief Mike Agbedor Abu Ozekhome as respondent, “raises several improprieties that require actions on the part of the NBA,” according to the letter.

Prof. Badejo requested the NBA president to formally refer the case to the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee for further investigations into the actions of legal practitioners on the roll of the Nigerian Supreme Court who were involved on both sides of the case, and to assign disciplinary measures if deemed appropriate.

The committee also asked the NBA president to call the Attorney-General of the Federation’s attention to the case so he could explore the possibility of restitution to the Federal Government of Nigeria of the property in dispute.

“The referral of this case to the LPDC is required for the credibility and sustainability of your visionary leadership in setting up the NBA Anti-Corruption Committee,” Prof. Badejo stated in the letter addressed to the NBA president in Abuja.
