The initiative, led by UMWEF Project Manager, Mrs. Rose Aleje, brought together women and children who received food items and welfare support to cushion the harsh economic realities facing families across Nigeria.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Aleje conveyed a goodwill message from the foundation’s president, Mrs. Tessy Eweka, who is based abroad.
“Our president sends her love and greetings to everyone. This is her way of giving back to society, and she derives great fulfillment in putting smiles on the faces of widows, orphans, and other less-privileged members of the community,” Mrs. Aleje said.
She further explained that the outreach is not new, as UMWEF has previously extended similar support to widows and orphans in different cities and communities across the country.

The President of Akweya Community Development Association (Abuja Branch), Mr. Dominic Ikamokwu, welcomed the team and expressed deep appreciation to Mrs. Eweka and UMWEF for their benevolence. He also urged beneficiaries to remain orderly and assured them that everyone would receive their package.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Margaret Onyike, told AkweyaTV that the food items came at the right time, considering the current hunger in the land. She prayed for God’s blessings upon the president of UMWEF for her kindness and generosity.
Items shared with the beneficiaries include foodstuffs and sanitary pads for young ladies.
Other dignitaries who graced the occasion include Chief Friday Idah (Oglejegwo of Akweya), former ACDA Chairman of the Abuja branch; Mr Chris Angwu, CEO of Dr Memories Hotel, Masaka, and a host of others.
