  • Nigeria‘s Minister Faces Condemnation Over Threatens to UN
  • "I stand here as the Minister of Women Affairs to demand that the UN provides a detailed account of all the funds they have collected in Nigeria's name from donors"

After the Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, issued a stern warning to the United Nations (UN), threatening legal action over what she alleges to be financial mismanagement, Nigerians have been speaking.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the minister raised concerns that the UN had been receiving funds from donors on behalf of Nigerians without proper accountability.

“I stand here as the Minister of Women Affairs to demand that the UN provides a detailed account of all the funds they have collected in Nigeria’s name from donors,” Minister Kennedy-Ohanenye stated.

“We want to see a transparent breakdown of how these funds have been utilised. If the UN fails to provide this information, or at the very least make it accessible to Nigerians, they should issue an apology,” she asserted.

The minister went on to stress that if the requested report is not produced by November 15, 2023, she is prepared to take legal action against the United Nations.

This development has sparked a significant debate, with many eagerly awaiting the UN’s response and the potential legal proceedings that may ensue. The Minister’s allegations could have far-reaching implications, and Nigerians are closely watching the situation for further updates. See the screenshots of some reactions.
