Ondagye Richard Onminyi Ebu’s death is a profound loss to Omebe and Akweyaland.

The Omebe community of Akweya is mourning the loss of its traditional elder known as the Ondagye, Richard Onminyi Ebu, who passed away at the age of 87. The death occurred on Wednesday, 17 September 2025 at 6:40 am, following a brief illness.

As the Ondagye of Omebe, Mr. Ebu was widely respected for his humility, wisdom, and dedication to his people. Throughout his life, he contributed immensely to the growth and unity of the community, with a special passion for the welfare of children. AkweyaTV learnt that he was known for his jokes, playful spirit, and fatherly guidance, bringing joy to the younger generation as he stood as a role model to many.

He leaves behind 10 children, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will continue to carry forward his legacy. Family members, friends, and neighbours described him as a man who lived for others, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. His passing leaves a deep void in the community, particularly among the children who cherished his kindness and playful nature.

His remains are being laid to rest today, 18 September 2025 at Otobi, where relatives, friends, and community members have gathered for prayers, tributes, and final respects.

According to many mourners, Ondagye Richard Onminyi Ebu’s death is a profound loss, but his legacy of leadership, love, service, and laughter will forever remain in Omebe and the wider Akweyaland.
