The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Mary Ogbe, has pledged her full support to the Idoma Development Association (IDA) in advancing development in Idoma land.

She made this commitment during a courtesy visit from IDA executives at her office in Abuja on Thursday, May 23, 2024.

Dr. Ogbe, who is one of the first women appointed as a permanent secretary from the Zone C senatorial district of Benue State, attributed her position to divine providence, emphasising her commitment to her role’s purpose.

The president of the IDA, Hon. Alex Odoh, led the delegation and praised Dr. Ogbe for her warm reception and support. He highlighted the association’s objectives and achievements, including the construction of four roads in Otukpo town and its critical role in resolving the ongoing crises in Apa and Agatu.

The IDA delegation also included Dr. Austin Ayegba (Vice Chairman, IDA Board), Mrs. Ojabo Susan (Women Leader), Engr. Frank Adole (Board Member), Barrister Emmanuel Okibe (General Secretary), Mr. Victor Ewaoche (Board Member), and Ms. Mary Praise Uloko (Director of Welfare).

“It is necessary for us to specially come and greet you. I believe your current position and promotion are a function of the fact that the president was satisfied with your service in your previous place of assignment,” Dr. Ayegba stated.

The Idoma Development Association (IDA) is a socio-cultural organisation aimed at addressing the leadership vacuum in Idoma land and providing a platform to harness and develop the potential of the Idoma people for collective benefit.
