The State Secretary and Electoral Committee Secretary, Thompson Iber, announced the postponement in an official notice to members on Friday, citing directives from PMAN Chairman Robert Udende.

The decision comes after the Honourable Commissioner for Sports, Youth and Creativity stepped in to address what officials described as “lingering dissidence by some factional group” within the association.

“The planned elections will proceed in soonest time,” Iber stated in the notice, though no specific date has been set for the rescheduled polls.

Despite the postponement, Iber indicated that preparations for the elections will continue during the interim period as stakeholders work to resolve the internal disputes that prompted government intervention.

The PMAN Benue State Chapter elections that was to hold on September 14 was expected to determine new leadership for the association, which represents performing musicians across the state. The factional disputes that led to the postponement highlight ongoing challenges within the organisation as different groups vie for control.

Further updates on the rescheduled election date are expected once the Commissioner’s office completes its mediation efforts between the warring factions.
