In a resignation statement, Azzay revealed that his decision was prompted by recent developments involving former PMAN President Pretty Okafor and Olusco Heritage Investment Ltd regarding the Association’s land in Abuja.
“I take my integrity and reputation very seriously, and recent developments within the Association have compelled me to formally distance myself from its affairs,” Azzay stated in his resignation letter.
The former vice president indicated that similar issues had previously led him to step down from his position in PMAN, suggesting a pattern of concerns about the organisation’s operations.
Azzay made a pointed reference to Okafor’s conduct, alluding to a video in circulation while stating he preferred not to elaborate on the former president’s character. “With respect to the former President of PMAN, Pretty Okafor, I would prefer not to dwell on his character, as the video in circulation already reflects his level of ‘maturity and composure,'” he said.
The resignation comes as PMAN faces internal disputes and controversies that have apparently created divisions within the musicians’ association leadership.
Azzay stressed his complete withdrawal from PMAN activities and denied involvement in any unauthorised activities related to the association. “For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to state clearly that I am not involved in any unauthorised activities in relation to PMAN,” he clarified.
The former vice president requested that his privacy be respected following his decision to completely withdraw and distance himself from all PMAN-related activities.
The resignation adds to apparent turmoil within PMAN, with leadership disputes in the Benue branch and questions surrounding the association’s assets creating ongoing challenges for the organisation that represents Nigerian musicians and entertainment industry professionals.
