In a statement by PIN Founder, Eriata Oribhabor, made available to Akweya TV on August 5, 2023, the organisation said the deceased Chief Justice Abiri graciously welcomed the PIN entourage during a courtesy visit to Yenagoa in 2019, where her warmth and hospitality left a lasting impression on the visiting poets.

During the visit, Justice Kate Abiri’s office was transformed into a mini-hall for reading and recital of poetry by talented poets like Awodiya Funke, Solutionist Clementina, and Chinemerem Mary Anyi. The latter facilitated the visit alongside PIN Connect Centre Yenagoa, led by Barr. Poet Ebi Robert and Kolade Olanrewaju Freedom, the Executive Secretary of PIN.

Chief Justice Kate Abiri’s support for creativity and the arts was further evident when she honoured the PIN Initiative with her presence at the award ceremony of the Nigerian Students Poetry Prize (NSPP) winners at Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State.

The Poets in Nigeria Initiative expressed its deepest condolences to her family and loved ones, and they prayed for her soul to rest in peace.
